So were officially on the road to summer slam with less an 4 days until the biggest event of the summer and for me personally I've been enjoying the build for this years show. Yes wwe have been inapedating us with news the show will be on the wwe network and that a monthly subscription to the network is just 9.99, but apart from that mindless selling each week in week out wwe creative have done a fine job in building the main event and a number of mid and undercard feuds for the show at the staples centre in LA. First and foremost wwe have done this after what was an fairly distrious start for network they said they needed 1 million subscribers in the Us and by July we received the news wwe had only got 770,000 obviously not good so wwe did the usual they fired a bunch of there work staff to be able to make a profit out of the network but also realized that not just firing everyone is going to work every 3 months because if they did that by this time next year they won't have anyone working for them (yes a over the top statement but hopefully you get my point) to make a profit off the network. So they went out of there way after all the mindless and cheap plugging of the network being just 9.99 and decided they needede to also book stronger ppv to get there fans to fork out that 9.99 each month. OK so the original summer slam plans consisted of Daniel Bryan v Brock lesnar but due to Bryan's neck injury (something wwe has no control over) the main event changed to Cena v Brock and in my opinion wwe have done the right thing here its the only other big money match the company has at this moment in time that will draw a decent number of eyes to watching the show and hopefully subscribe to the network to see this match. Wwe did a fine job having put together some nice ufc inspired video packages where Brock vowed to make cena exspell blood, urine and vomit, believable stuff I'm sure your agree. They also had Paul heyman cut some damn fine money promos too sell the match and the network to you and even cena has cut some decent promos in the build up with not a dick or fart joke in sight, for once cena has carried his own on the stick against brock. All in all wwe have made this match seem important and wwe title mean something again. Regradless of how the match ends and all the 9.99 plugs someone in wwe creative needs to be given some credit for making this title match a must see not just for wrestling fans but for your average viewer at home as well. It wasn't just the main event where wwe had managed to get it right as they've also made the jack swagger and rusev feud seem important as well considering they neally blow it after lana's cheap heat promo at battleground. They have been able to make this feud mean something yet again and how they've made jack swagger relevant again after years of being buried in the mid card and after a forgettable run as world champion in 2010 is again some very good booking from the frequently panned creative department and swagger himself must get some respect for how hard he has worked recently to improve as babyface. As for rusev his character is clearly improving the bulgarian brute has had some good heat thanks to months and of killing jobbers and bashing the good ole us of a through his mouth piece Lana. Swagger v rusev on paper should have been a one and done feud but due to some good booking and fans caring about the old fashioned america vs Russia feud this one is far from over and with the match now having the flag gimmick (most flag matches end with the winner hanging the flag meaning wwe don't actually have to beat undefeated rusev by pin or submission) it might be a way for them to actually have swagger win to continue the feud into night of champions. Seth Rollins vs dean ambrose has been another feud wwe having been doing a fine job of building over the last two months even going so far as to hold off there match at battleground, OK the old wrestling bait and switch thing didn't upset not just the iwc but I think your missing the point. Because now fans want to see ambrose tear Seth limb from limb at summer slam even more than they did at battleground. So wwe have made this match all the more important than going the route of them having an actual match at battleground, A major wrestling company holding off a major match in this day and age should be applauded rather than complained about. As for the stipulation to this match I was at first not so hot about it but the more I thought about it the more it made sense considering dean has been chasing the fleeing Seth almost weekly and from a character point of view the dastardly Seth will now finally have to face ambrose one on one and there is no escape in a a lumberjack match, so there will be nowhere to run for Seth come summer slam. The miz stole Tyler breezes gimmick that much is true but lately I've found myself hating the miz more and more and then it dawned on me that miz had actually made me care about seeing him want to lose and get beaten and lose the ic title. Hes currently trying to make the gimmick his own and isn't completely ripping off the breeze character now and his promos of late have really made me dislike the guy even more. As for his match with super worker Dolph ziggler at summer slam there is only one possible outcome and that is to have the incredibly unlikable miz beat ziggler. Roman reigns is wwe chosen one weather you like him or you don't there is no denying wwe is setting him up as the guy who walks out of mania as the new wwe chqmpion. So in the mean time wwe have put reigns up against the authority a solid booking decision at the time but so far his matches with Kane and Orton haven't been 5 or even 4 star classics and his promos haven't exactly got the wrestling world talking like they should be. Maybe something is missing but at summer slam he could find it with a big win and decent match with wwe other chosen one Orton. He will currently need it because recently it seems the crowd has sensed this to and cooled off ever so slighy with some fans. I think Orton will have some help but at summer slam the authority need to beat Roman and a as screwy finish as possible so reigns continues to have a reason to chase hunter going into survivor series and then beat hunter clean and go onto the rumble win and then of course mania if that is still the plan. Brie Bella vs Stephanie McMahon seems to have been written by Vince Russo as its been booked as episodic television with the latest installment which saw brie arrested after she attacked Claire lynch. I haven't found it to be must see TV but I understand why wwe did it this way, a brie v Stephanie match on paper doesn't sound like a wrestling classic but the way its been booked the Bella fans will currently be ready to see brie defeat Stephanie come showtime if that is the finish wwe have planned for this one. Paige vs AJ hasn't exactly set the wrestling world on fire and it should have done really considering the two girls are incredibly talented, but it hasn't been about the two working long hard hitting matches. Actually, no in fact its all been about Paige's so called friendship or whatever they've called it on tv with aj. Shame because these two had a good outing at battleground and wwe should be booking these two in wrestling matches instead of silly segments were they call each other freinmies. Finally we come to y2j Chris Jericho vs bray Wyatt this feud hasn't lived up to the hype so far and that disappoints me because these two should be creating magic together but for whatever reason these two haven't clicked yet. Honestly bray has fallen so far since his feud with cena, obviously the loss at payback didn't help bray but he should have been able to bounce back but maybe y2j wasn't the right person to help bray but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working. When I started this the point I wanted to make was that wwe had done a fine job in building for its future with this show even with all the 9.99 plugs and how the network had impacted these changes within creative but after night of champions weather you sign up for another six months of the network or not one thing is for sure 4months later they will go all out to get your six month comittmant and if that means we're getting this kind of balls to the wall booking every 3 to 4months then surely it's not such a bad thing having to put up with all the nine ninety nines.
