ROH TV Report 26-02-15 Road Rage Special

This week on ROH TV it's a special additon from ROH recent tour the winter warriors tour the main event saw ROH World Television champion Jay Lethal defend against Roderick Strong. Also MIchael Elgin took on Mark Briscoe and Alberto El Patron faced ACH in a special addition of ROH tv this week.

ROH TV Report Road Rage Detroit Michigan, Ford Centre
Kevin kelly and Truth Martini welcomed us to the show and said as "we're on the road to the 13th anniversary PPV" as tonight's show was a special from the recent winter warriors house show tour. On a side note the audio for this show as well as the lighting was more crappy than usual during some points you could hardly hear martini.

Singles Match: Alberto El Patron Vs ACH
Very good opener helped by The crowd which is super hot for this one but maybe it was the piss poor audio the crowd were chanting this is wrestling and both wrestlers names throughout the match. Throughout the match Alberto is trying at almost every turn to apply his arm bar but ACH has a counter for it almost every time. In fact I like how they kept building the arm bar as such a dangerous hold with all of ACH attempts to avoid it at every turn. After some breath taking dives by ACH The finish arrives as ACH goes up top to hit the 450 splash but Alberto moves and ACH lands on his feet. ACH then counters another attempt at a arm bar by Alberto and gives El patron a side kick and goes up top yet again. ACH comes off with another 450 splash but this time Alberto gets his knees up and Alberto then applies the arm bar at long last and after a few seconds ACH taps out.

Your Winner: Alberto El Patron

We are thrown to a video package of ODB training at the Briscoes farm in sandy fort Delaware. All three compete with one another in such challenges as lifting buckets of chicken feed, climbing up and down ladders, jumping up onto a digger and beating a used tyre with a sledgehammer. Not quiet vince McMahon chasing a chicken but this quick segment still did the trick.

Singles Match: Mark Briscoe Vs Michael Elgin
Another good match which the crowd is still very hot for, both men were protected well in this match with both men hitting all there big spots and being made to look strong by kicking out of the said move. It ended when mark went for a cross body but elgin caught him an gave mark a buckle bomb. Elgin then rather than go for his finisher the pop up powerbomb gave Mark his own brothers finisher the jay driller and covered Jay for the 1,2 and 3.

Your Winner: Michael Elgin

Afterwards Elgin grabs the metal bar which holds the top rope onto the ring post and proceeds to ram it into marks mouth. It brings out Jay Briscoe who chases off Elgin but as Jay tends to his fallen brother Elgin returns with the ROH world title and clocks Jay from behind with jays ROH world title. Elgin the raises up the belt to boos as Tomasso Ciampra comes out and ciampra grabs Elgin and nails him with a Silican slice and does the same as Elgin some in the crowd cheer and some boo. Then war beard Hanson comes out and he nails Ciampra with the big boot and raises up the belt like Elgin and Ciampra did. This time the crowd get behind Hanson but he is then attacked by Jay and the two brawl to the outside. Hanson, Elgin and Jay brawl out on the floor as Ciampra goes up top and dives out onto all four men. The referees then come out and break up the fight and were thrown to a commerical.

Main Event: ROH World Television Title Match Jay Lethal (Champions)/with Truth Martini and Jay Diesel Vs Roderick Strong
Another very good match which you would expect from these two who are in a very select group of wrestlers in ROH who can say they are bona fide main eventers and wrestle like main eventers as well. Jimmy Jacobs replaced Truth Martini on commentary as Martini had his managerial services to perform for his charge the ROH world television champion Jay Lethal and it was telling Jacobs was out by himself and not with decade stablemates BJ Whitmer and Adam Page. Which is adding more fuel to the fire to my hunch that Jacobs will turn face and align with strong in a feud against bj and page. The match was brought to a stop after BJ Whitmer run in and gave strong a exploder in the ring then on the floor. As kelly said on commentary "what is this Jimmy more decade business" but Jacobs genuinely didn't seem to have an answer for kelly which again is adding more fuel to the fire. The referee stopped the match and declared strong the winner via DQ and Jay lethal began to leave but roderick pulled himself up and into the ring. Grabbing a microphone in the process and said "lethal do you want to finish this like a man and a champion" and I'm guessing Jay did because he returned and the match was resumed by referee Todd Sinclair. The finish sees strong apply his strong hold to lethal but lethal just makes it to the ropes to break the hold. Gulleotine by lethal to strong and Jay heads up to the top rope but strong knocks Jay down crotching Jay on the top rope in the process. Strong goes up and joins lethal and the two battle it out up top and at one point Roderick teases giving Jay a tiger driver from the top rope (Misawa would have been proud). Eventually Jay knocks strong off the top rope and strong falls to the mat and lethal drops an elbow drop onto strong and covers him for the near fall. Jay goes for the lethal injection but strong counters and nails Jay with a sick kick for a very near fall on the champion indeed. Lethal then counters a strong back breaker and super kicks strong not once but twice then handsprings into the ropes and rebounds off and catches strong with a lethal injection for the win.

Your Winner: And Still ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal

To end the show were thrown to the back and strong is there and he has a coming together with BJ Whitmer and the two brawl. We're then thrown back to the ring were lethal is celebrating then out runs Alberto El Patron and the two men who will meet this weekends 13th anniversary ppv square off. It ends with the two brawling then lethal decided rather smartly to bail and leaves through the crowd as this show comes to an end.

25-02-15 NXT Results

This week on NXT number 1 contender to the NXT title Finn Balor took on the returning The Brian Kendrick, The Lucha Dragons faced Tye Dillenger and Ross Jordan. Also Bayley was in action against  Becky Lynch as well as Hideo Itami taking on Bull Dempsey.

NXT TV Results

Tom Phillips, Corey Graves and Alex Riely welcomed us to the show as Hideo Itami made his way out to the ring.

Singles Match: Hideo Itami defeated Bull Dempsey
Ok opener I've seen many better Hideo  matches and considering how badly they've booked bull against Boron Corbain I wasn't surprised he was doing the job here. Afterwards Tyler Breeze showed up and gave Hideo a super kick at the top of the ramp way. Breeze with his selfie stick and phone tried to take a photo of himself and a downed Itami but couldn't seem to find the right shot and gave Hideo enough time to recover. Hideo then gave the prince of pretty a photobomb he will never forget and breeze run off into the back through the crowd.

Tag Team Match: Lucha Dragons Kalisto&Sin Cara Beat Tye Dillenger and Ross Jordan
Another ok match, nothing special but nothing great either, the dragons seem to have out grown NXT like so many others and seem to just be treading water at the moment in NXT. During the closing stages of the match Jordan irrate with dillenger and walked out on him which resulted in the them losing there match when Kalisto gave dillenger the kalisto del sol. After the match dillenger refused to leave the ring calling out Jordan but he got Baron Corbain instead.

Singles Match: Boron Corbain Hammered Tye  Dillenger
Predictably Corbain squashed poor ole dillenger in under 15 seconds finishing dillenger off with his end of days move.

Women's Match: Becky Lynch Made Bayley Tap Out
Unlike the divas of wwe these ladies are proper ladies wrestlers and delivered a proper women's match which both can be proud of. It finished after lynch applied her new finishing hold a modified arm bar (which looked very stiff indeed) and Bayley tapped out. I think lynch who has been losing a lot recently needed the win more than the incredibly popular and super over Bayley.

Main Event: Finn Balor Pinned The Brian Kendrick
A very good match to end this weeks NXT and IT proved Spanky hasn't lost anything (I'm not surprised by this I only saw kendrick a few months back putting over adam Cole on ROH tv in a good match). Balor looked impressive here with his crisp kicks and movement in the ring and made kendrick look great with his selling. During the match NXT champion Kevin Owens was on commentary. Riely brought Up how as a wrestler he would have never done that to another wrestler let alone his best friend when referring to Owens match with zayn. Owens brought up how he did what he did for his family and showed no remorse towards what he did to Zayn. Then Balor refused to take advantage of kendrick hurting his ankle and owens called out Balor on it. Owens had an intense look in his eyes staring at Riely and said he had never been a champion to which Riely replied I may not have been a champion but I'm a man, so it got more heated between Alex and Owens and Owens left saying he was leaving before he did something stupid. Back in the ring Balor finished off kendrick after a sling blade and a dropkick in the corner then a double stomp for the 1,2 and 3. Afterwards Owens returned and threw Riely over the announce table and had a stare down with Balor to end the show.

Up first we have a full review on the Royal Rumble and ask the question has Vince McMahon really lost his mind? Then it's onto WWE news items which includes Triple H on the stone cold podcast,
another free month on the wwe network, wwe reaches 1 million network subscribers, NXT takes over the network again and fast lane replaces the elimination chamber. We then have a look at the build for this years WrestleMania 31 card and wonder what roles Daniel Bryan, Sting, Seth Rollins, Triple H, Undertaker, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler and Mizdow have to play on the granddaddy of them all. Then it's over to TNA for a review on TNA Lockdown which was this year held on free tv, we have news on Havok and velvet sky's departure from TNA and look at it's future and what direction Dixie carter is taking the company in. Then it's over to ROH and Lucha Underground where we look at Alberto El Patron (Del Rio) debut with both groups this month. We have a full review of Chikara premier for season 15, the best and worst section returns and Finally it's over to japan and have a feature on new Japan's and Noah working agreement.

WWE
Wwe ended the month of January with the it's yearly royal rumble show which has been in the news for all the wrong reason this month and were going to start the newsletter off with a review of the show, so here we go. The 2015 Royal Rumble took place on January 25th in Philadelphia Pennslyvania at the Wells and Fargo in front of 17,164 rabid wwe fans who were expecting something by the end of the evening they would not get. On the pre show The Master of the wwe universe Cesaro and Tyson Kidd/with Natayla and Adam Rose toppled The New Day Kofi Kingston and Big E Langston/with Xavier Woods in a good opener. Yes the crowd as usual sat on the new day (this gimmick is the pits but woods, Kingston and Big E are trying to make it work at least and it's not there fault they've been saddled with this rubbish gimmick) but the in ring action between the four was of a good standard throughout. Then the show started proper and up first to open the ppv was the worst in ring match of the night as The Ascension Viktor&Konnor Hammered The New Outlaws BA Billy Gunn&The Road Dogg in a very average affair not much of note happened then the Ascension won with the fall of man. Up next was are third straight tag teams match but after years of mistreatment the belts like the Intercontinental title have become devalued and mean very little these days. The Uso's Jimmy&Jey downed Mizdow The Miz&Damien Mizdow to retain the wwe tag team titles in an ok match. Yet again Mizdow is incredible over and it seems as events would unfold later that night and on raw in the weeks that followed is that these two are set to feud heading into WrestleMania and on there own you kind of have to worry for both man. In six months time I'm suspecting the miz and Sandow will be less over than they are today. The Bella Twins Nikki&Brie dropped Natayla and Paige in another very average match, it's almost as if wwe was feeding us crap so the live crowd would be well enough rested to react so strong to the two main event matches, UM. Up next was the wwe world championship title match, Brock Lesnar/with Paul Heyman pinned John Cena and Seth Rollins/with J&J Security Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble in the match of the night to retain the WWE World Champinship. This match was very recieved by the live crowd and those on Twitter that night and the next day and for good reason. The match itself had serveal fans guessing the outcome would Lesnar lose as he is suspected to be leaving the wwe after WrestleMania. Could John Cena equal Ric flairs record of winning the world title 16 times (when in actual fact it's more like in the twenties) and go headline mania with vince new chosen one or would wwe give the ICW (not the Scottish indy group) something to celebrate about even if Vince's new chosen one wins the royal rumble. Or even the thought of a rollins as wwe champion headlining mania with Daniel Bryan probably made the ICW have wet dreams at night just thinking about that headlining mania. But alas wwe chose to play it safe and have brock retain the title and go ahead with current plans. So basically I'm saying the Match was highly anticipated and had people guessing and that's my argument it was so well recieved by fans that it was viewed as more important. Overall I have to say I enjoyed this match and it proved to me wwe may have let down rollins in not giving him the belt. He's been wwe most underrated performer by fans and the creative team alike and reminds me of a young shawn Michaels. Yet again Rollins carried his own against two of wwe top guys and at times even out shone them here in my opinion. Then it was onto the rumble match itself as Roman Regins won the 2015 Royal Rumble last eliminating Rusev to go on and headline WrestleMania 31. This match neally caused a damn right as the fans in Philadelphia turned on the match Completey after Vince's chosen one won the match. Most people online had the cheek to label this as an overracted but I will leave it like this regrading the crowds reaction maybe you two would violently reject such an outcome If you were as invested in Daniel Bryan as those fans were. I'm no supporter of the reaction but can understand why the Crowd turned on the finish as bad as they did because they didn't want Roman Regins to win as they pay for tickets and attend events they have the right to react whatever way they like. At the end of the day it was a classic vince move he's been quoted as saying before that they will boo and cheer who I say they will but now in 2015 this isn't happening because people ain't buying what he is selling in 2015. The fans wanted bryan to win and wwe should have known this after last years fiasco and should have booked accordingly or not even put him in the match. The second bryan was eliminated the crowd turned ugly and with all of Vince's knowledge and know how he should have known this along with his team of yes men and women but they ignored it to agree with they're boss but we've all done it right. Anyway to blame a current section of fans is ludicrous thy simply rejected what they Wre being feed and that my dear reader is wrestle crap. Vince proved that evening that he may not be the best man for the job or has poor judgement whatever it is he's been doing this for years. Bryan reminds me of Bret hart in 92/95 period first he was hogans replacement then hulk came back and took his spot then he was clearly the best hand in the company in 95 but vince wanted a new hulk hogan in diesel but it wasn't what the fans wanted as they continued to cheer bret. Eventually after a year vince changed his mind and gave Bret the strap he should have carried for wwf back then in the early nineties. Anyway in Vince's eyes like Bret bryan isn't the top guy Regins is, it's kind of funny how vince hasn't learnt a thing over all these years but this time it's come with a price due to social media. It seems every fan is a insider these days and knows how to save wwe and that is with hashtags. The #cancelthewwenetwork tended worldwide and wwe didn't sweat it at first as the next night on raw they forged ahead with Regins v Brock but then the following week it seemed if wwe finally gave in and gave its fans what a wanted by having Regins v Bryan at wwe
Fast lane with the winner getting a shot at Brock mania. Either wwe Gave in or have decided to toss its audience a bone but then take it away as I suspect plans haven't changed and vince still fills as if Regins v Brock is best for business. Is vince building up his audience only to let them down again a company in the late ninties did this a lot and it was called
Wcw and look that what happened to them. I'm currently not saying the wwe will dead it probably never will but it can go onto life supporter and at the moment wwe is very much hurting. So I asked the question has vince lost his mind or is he like so many other countless promoters who think what there doing is in fact bedt for business. I for one will sit back and enjoy the road to WrestleMania and ever watch it all blow up in Vince's face or watch yet another mania changed due to fan reaction. After ranting and raving for so long about the pros and cons in wwe I should give this show a rating I'd give it a 4 out of 10 because let's face 1 out of 5 matches ain't a good return in my opinion the wwe title match was match of the night. Triple H much like Vince McMahon appeared on the stone cold Podcast (or as it's actually called the steve austin show) and yet again stone cold grilled the wwe coo on his role within the company, the rumble fiasco, who should headline wrestlemania, weather hunter was coming back to the ring among other things. My take on the podcast has to be that hunter seemed to blame an awful lot of raws current downfall on vince while saying in the same breathe how great NXT is and it is but this seemed as if hunter answers my have been rehearsed and it seems a little to convent he blamed vince for all of wwe mistakes. Take what you will from the podcast but my honest opinion is something didn't sound right. Austin was his usual stiff self in this interview throwing out all the hard questions which hunter seemed to take Great displeasure in answering. Then austin throw out a curve ball and asked a question not even the most hardcore fan was taking about and that was Chyna (Joanie Laurer) possible hall of fame induction. Hunters answer probably didn't surprise to many hardcore fans with him citing Chyna's post wwe career a reason as to why she wouldn't be inducted. He said I have an eight year old daughter who isn't familiar with her or her work but she was to do a google search then the results wouldn't be easy to explain to a youngster. I'll put it like this as this is a hall of fame which has a criminally convicted rapist in it, so why not chyna. Well I'm with hunter on this one I don't think chyna should be inducted anytime soon due to her post wwe career and for the fact hunter is right most kids may not know who she is and may do a google search on her and again I'll say this I wouldn't want to explain to little Jimmy or jessica what he or she just saw, that would be a tough one to answer. John pollack of the law radio may very well have pointed out its in the seventh item down if you google her name and one of her films is there do wwe really won't someone who's still involved in that business. Or maybe I should just get off my high horse and say what everyone is saying now it's been brought up (I took the high ground and didn't make an obvious sex joke there) and see should be inducted to the hall of fame. Finally I'd like to say hunter is doing a damn fine job of developing talent in NXT and boy did he make that clear for to the world (the game was good at doing during his run as a talent for wwe so why not as the coo) on the podcast. WrestleMania finally seems to be taking shape following the rumble fall out the main event will be a wwe championship match with Brock Lesnar defending his title against well it's going to be either Roman Reigns or Daniel Bryan and I still think it's going to be the latter but I really do want to see Bryan v Lesnar after missing out on his mouth watering match at last years SummerSlam. Also it looks as if Sting and Triple H will meet in California on March 29th after sting appeared on raw last month to help Cena in his match with seth Rollins by distracting seth Rollins and the authority who were at ringside so John Cena could get his friends (Dolph Ziggler, Erik Rowen and  Ryback) jobs back (hey it lasted 3 weeks I did expect them to be back sooner). As for Cena it looks as if he's destined for a showdown with Rusev a character who've I've really grown to enjoy as of late. I fully expect these two to meet at the grand daddy of them all in March even though wwe have decided to throw away there first bout by giving it away for free technically. The rushed booking aside the only man that can save this angle now and I can't believe I'm going to say this but Hulk Hogan. Yes at Maina I could see a scanerio (if hulk passes a wwe medical beforehand) where Cena and hogan face Rusev and a partner of his choosing. Bray Wyatt looks destined for a showdown with The Underaker. I can't see why wwe are doing this match surely the taker should be facing Lesnar in a retirement and have a chance to get his win back from brock. If Daniel Bryan doesn't face brock at mania (in either a singles or triple threat match) then he may be booked to wrestle Dolph Ziggler. Given more than 15 minutes we could see these two come close to rivalling what randy savage and Ricky steamboat did at wrestlemania 3. Wwe Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett and Dean Ambrose will wrestle at wwe fast lane ppv and I could see wwe booking a rematch between the two at mania but I wouldn't expect either man to get much time on the showcase of the immortels. Mizdow will likely have fully turned face by the time you read this and will probably face The Miz at mania in what should be another short mania match. I'm sure Big Show and Kane could team to face The Uso's Jimmy&Jey for the wwe tag team titles. It's not a match I want to see but can see vince would be thinking a good mania level match. As for the divas title I bet wwe book some useless multi women match to take place at mania because let's face it they do that with there divas most years. Also I hope NXT get a shot at being on the show with either some sort of multi man match or even if they where to do Sami Zayn Vs Kevin Owens at mania then I think a lot of wrestling fans will be happy. I personally think the NXT guys deserve some sort of role at mania this year for all the hard work and rightful praise they recieved this past year in wwe. Surely Randy Orton will return to finish his feud with Seth Rollins and I expect wwe to book this match for mania as well. There isn't a whole lot else I can see wwe booking come showtime maybe if you can think of any then hit me up on Twitter and tell me I'm wrong. Finally this month we end the wwe section with a review of NXT Takeover: rival. Yet again where wwe fails to deliver NXT did this month with another fine network special. Up first was Hideo Itami rolled over Tyler Breeze in a very good match, if these two had an extra ten minutes this could have been match of the night. The two just need a little more chracther development and a chance to cut a few more promos each week and the two will be more than ready for the main roster. Boron Corbain downed Bull Dempsey in a match which could have been so much better if both men had just been a little stiffer it could have been one for the ages but unfortunately that didn't happen instead Corbain picked up his third straight win over bull and is guess Bulls done because how can he recover after three loses to Corbain. Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake beat Lucha Dragons Kalisto&Sin Cara to retain the NXT Tag Team Titles in a very average match. The crowd which was hot from the opening bell kind of died once sin cara started to botch (I believe that sin cara gimmick is cursed now huncio is botching under this gimmick. I can't say I've been overly impressed with Murphy and Blake as NXT tag team champions and only see the team as a short term solution to a much bigger problem and that is NXT has no tag teams anymore. Finn Balor pinned Adrain Neville in the final of the number one contenders tournament. This match was match of the night in the end both man worked there arses off and proved wwe still does promote wrestling even if it's only in NXT. Both men went well over 15 minutes and where the longest match of the evening. Sasha Banks toppled Charlotte, Bayley and Becky Lynch in a fatal 4 way to win the NXT Women's Title. Another damn fine match here all four carried there own in that ring and rarely botched anything. Unlike the divas on raw these girls were given well over 13 minutes and had time to tell there story. In the end Sasha picked up the in and title for the first time in NXT and as you've probably read before on this blog I've been putting over sasha a lot ever since I've been covering NXT. So by the end I was more than happy to see sasha get the belt and she richly deserves it. Finally Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn by TKO to win the NXT Title, this was a very good match which saw owens beat the hell out of Sami for well over 10 minutes. You expected Zayn to mount some kind of comeback but he didn't as the referee stopped the match and awarded the belt to owens. The finish fell flat with the crowd and that didn't help but I did enjoy the fact they've built up owens as a killer now much like they did with Brock Lesnar when he destroyed John Cena at Summer Slam and espiecally his powerbomb to the ring apron which looks devistating and is sold by everyone as one of the most dangerous moves in pro wrestling. Afterwards Owens celebrated as most of the crowd politely applued Owens win his first title win should have been special and it was but crowd flat reaction to it kind of made the finish look weak. Overall it wasn't the best show I watched that week (that Honour went to NJPW New Beginnings show from February 11th) but due to four very good matches and two which weren't anything special this show gets a 9 out of 10.

TNA
Kurt Angle recently won the TNA world heavyweight championship from Bobby Lashley in London during TNA maximum impact tour. The title change in question won't air on TNA until sometime in March , so I should have really started with spoiler alert. Jeff Hardy took a sick bump falling from the top of the cage door onto the steel steps at ring side, this bump looked very nasty indeed. Hardy had to take the bump do he could be written out of the storylines as he couldn't travel to the uk for the maximum impact tour due to his criminal convictions from 2009. Is Havok still with TNA lots of people don't seem to know. She was also absent from the uk tour and had appeared on the shine ippv this month leading many to believe she had left the company but yet it is to be confirmed. Another knockout to depart is Velvet Sky she was fired in nonsensical angle on the lockdown tv special and as of writing like Havok no seems to know weather she is done with the organisation. TNA newest heel faction lead by MVP consists of Samoa Joe, Low-Ki, Kenny King and Eric Young and have been named the Beat Down Crew or the BDC for short. So far the group are essentially the same as TNA mega groups like the main event Mafia and Immortel but this group has less star power and TNA hadn't done much to outline there motives so far as a group. So let's finish this months TNA section with the TNA impact lockdown 2015 special review. The show was held in front of barley 600 people in Manhattan at the Manhattan centre and didn't look like this show was going to be anything special or anything like lockdown used to be. Again the the show was poorly lit and the announcers were not at ringside instead in a studio in Nashville which for some reason still doesn't look right. The Revolution Cowboy James Storm&Abyss dropped The Hardys Matt&Jeff in a Six Sides of Steel cage match to retain the TNA Tag Team Titles. The match was very average and was only highlighted by Jeff hardys bump onto the steel steps after falling off the side of the cage onto the cage door then Onto the steps. It looked spectacular but was only done as for a reason to explain Jeff's absents from the UK tour due to his prior criminal convictions. Awesome Kong toppled Havok to win the TNA Knockouts Title in a ok six sides steel cage match. I wild have like to seen TNA build this feud for a little longer and the first match might have meant more if this match had more Of a build to it but this is TNA and I guess that's how they do things now. Bobby Roode downed Eric Young in under 8 minutes inside the six sides of steel cage match. It was another good match even if it was a little short but it was another big match given away with handly any build. This feud like the kong/Havok feud was rushed far to quickly on tv and I think this will seriously harm TNA in the long run. Tyrus rolled over Mark Andrews and Spud In a 2 on 1 handicap Six Sides of Steel Cage match. Spud did a dive from the top of the cage but that was about it in this match that went less an six minutes. Afterwards super heel EC3 tried to shave spud bald but new super babyface star Jeremy Borash (I'm kidding obviously) stepped in and unplugged ec3 clippers. Ec3 then chased down Borash to end this silliness but overall it wasn't the worst angle TNA have put together since its return. Finally Team Angle: Kurt Angle, Austin Aries, Gunner and Bobby Lashley defeated The BDC: MVP, Kenny King, Samoa Joe and Low-Ki in the Lethal Lockdown Six Sides of Steel Cage match. The match itself saw team angle have only 3 guys to the BDC four for this match but then Bobby Lashley the current TNA champion came out and finally went full blown face on MVP new heel faction. The ending was a pretty cool sight as angle, gunner and aries all had Joe, Ki and king trapped in submission holds while lashley speared MVP to pick up the win in a very average main event. Overall I actually enjoyed this show as TNA held off on the nonsense like all those swerve turns they did on there return last month and booked for them anyway a number of clean finishes for once. So my rating for this show is a 6 out of 10 but the more I think about it, it's more  like 5 out of 10 as the show wasn't a classic but it wasn't filled with the usual TNA nonsense.

ROH
ROH have been building to this years 13th Anniversary pay per view very nicely as of late on it's tv show. The highlights of which saw Nigel Mcguiness  decide to book Michael Elgin, Tomasso Ciampra and Hanson to wrestle ROH world champion Jay Briscoe with the belt on the line. This happened after a rather stiff triple threat between Elgin, Hanson and Ciampra ended in a non contest. They also did a tremendous job of building Alberto El Patron debut and his first ppv match with the company which will be against one of ROH premier performers Jay Lethal. I do ROH tv reviews for the JWR blogspot account so go check them out because this show has been too good this month. Also booked for the ROH 13th Year Anniversary ppv is the young bucks challenging reDragon for there ROH world tag team titles. These two had two very good encounters last year at ROH war of the worlds and ROH death before Dishonor last year and personally there ROH war of the worlds match was my match of the year for 2014. Alberto El Patron (Del Rio) has finally made his ROH debut during his debut he cut a promo and called out ROH world champion Jay Briscoe but another ROH world champion came out as ROH world television champion Jay Lethal answered El patron. Lethal claimed in a utterly convincing promo he was disrespected by El patron because he was ROH real world champion. Lethal went on to claim his title was far supieror because his ROH world television title regain was more important than jays regain as ROH world champion. Lethal also claimed he was the greatest 1st generation wrestler ever an it has become his official moniker now on ROH shows and it's quiet a moniker and statement by truth martini's man. The top prospect tournament continues on ROH tv and it's been pushed as the main forcual point on tv most weeks. So far I've been impressed with the beer city Bruiser and the already eliminated Dalton Castle who rather Strangly looks like Chikara's Ashley Remmington. It looks to me as of ROH management have finally forgiven MIchael Elgin but I don't expect him to be back wearing that ROH title any time soon. We end this ROH section with news that the company's top heel Adam Cole is still sidelined with an shoulder injury (as of writing) and isn't expected back anytime soon, which means we end this ROH section on a bit of sour note.

JAPAN
It's seems if new japan is now running pro wrestling Noah after Noah wrestler Super Crazy recently stated in a wrertling publication this month. He said I seem to be seeing more of Gedo and Jado (both men are head bookers of new japan) backstage at Noah events and they seem to the world they are booking this promotion now. He added they seem to have an awful lot of involvement on the  creative end of things here and I see more new japan officials popping up at Noah events month after month. Crazy basically unofficially announced Noah had been purchased by new japan and honestly Noah have needed a new set of owners ever since mitshuru misawa passed in 2009 and with new japan running things it's more easy for them to pick and choose talent from Noah's criminally underrated junior heavyweight division. New japan heel group Suzuki Gun have invaded Noah in the mean time which in turn has set up Minuro Suzuki as number one contender to the GHC Hewvyweight Title (Noah version of the world title) and will face champion Noiamichi Marufuji next month. Also GHC tag team champions Shane Haste and Mikey Nichols will defend there belts against Suzuki gun members and NWA world tag team champions the killer elite squad (Davey Boy Smith Jnr/Harry Smith and Lance Archer/Hoyt). Noah was once considered under misawa as Japan's new number two wrestling promotion and for a long time it nearly took new Japan's crown (during this period NJPW was still owned by Antonio Inoki and he had a bit of an obsession with worked shoots which helped drive fans away in droves during this period) in mid 2005 after drawing over 50,000 fans to the tokyo dome for a misawa v kawada match (these two old rivals started up there feud from all japan from the early nintes and it drew Noah's biggest house ever even if the number of 50,000 was a little white lie) which was the company's peak for sure. Once misawa died so did the company (slowly but it was on life support last year) as attendence dipped below 1,000 per show it also didn't help Nippon tv also stopped airing Noah's weekly tv show but now under new Mangerment the company has been given a much needed shot of adrenaline which only pleases me after all japan all but fade away into nothingness. Now a promotion I've always supported especially the 2004-2007 hot period is back and more relevant than it has been in years. New Japan world basically new Japan's verison of the wwe network will be free for the month of February which means you get the two new beginnings shows for free. It's quick and easy to sign up with google translate switched on and I would highly recommend you do so. Togi Makabe who had an ultra stiff match with Tomohiro Isihi at wrestle Kingdom 9 is injured and has been stripped of the belt he beat Isihi for at wrestling Kingdom 9. Talking of New Japan there was two NJPW New Beginning shows had just concluded before i finalised this newsletter so here I will only be publishing the card for the show on February 14th show. In the main event IWGP intercontinental champion Shinsuke Nakamaru defends his belt against veteran Yugi Nagata. in a six man tag The Bullet Club team of Machine Gun Karl Anderson, Luke 'Doc' Gallows and Toma Tonga clash with Hiroki Goto, Shibata and Hiroshi Tanahashi In a tag team match chaos stablemates Kazuchika Okada and YOSHI HASHI face the Bullet Club stablemates of Bad Luck Fale and Yujiro Takahashi. Toru Yano and Kazushi Sakuraba face Kota Ibushi and Tetsuya Naito, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Rob Conway defends his title against Hiroyoshi Tenzan. Also NWA Junior Heavweight Champion Jushin 'Thunder' Liger  defends his belt against Chase Owens. In another Six Man Tag the Bullet Club team of The Young Bucks Matt&Nick Jackson and IWGP Jnr Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega face Mascara Doroda and the Time Splitters KISHIDA&Alex Shelley and finally reDRagon Kyle O' Riely&Bobby Fish take on Jay White and Tiger Mask VI. Finally Just before this was completed AJ Styles defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the IWGP Heavyweight title, this is styles second regain with Japan's one number world title. In fact it was a very good night for the Bullet Club as regained not just the IWGP Heavyweight title but also won the IWGP Jnr Heavyweight Tag Team Titles as the young bucks beat (champions) reDRagon and the time splitters and IWGP Tag Team Titles as Karl Anderson&Doc Gallows beat Hiroki Goto and Shibata to regain te titles they lost at wrestle Kingdom 9. I will review both shows for next months newsletter as both shows concluded just after I started to write this newsletter.

ELSEWHERE
CZW are due to return to there old stomping grounds of the old ECW arena (now the 2300 arena but still the Ecw arena to me) in Philadelphia for its 16th Year Anniversary ippv on February 21st, next month I should have a review of this show for you. Already announced for the 16th anniversary is BLK out Jeez (TNA fans know him as rashad Cameron) will defend his CZW Heavyweight title against Chris Dickenson. Also the Young Bucks Matt and Nick Jackson have been booked to appear along with CZW legend Ruckus on the 21st. Lucha Underground 1st season run on El Rey has finished and season two has begun, I will be doing an season overview for next months news letter. New Japan and CMLL (one of wrestlings oldest promotions ever) joined forces yet again in January to co promote six shows called Fantastica Mania on 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th and 19th of January in Osaka, Takamatsu, Kyoto and Tokyo. Most of the shows were not well recieved by fans or critics alike and I have so far only seen January 15th show but as I've signed up to new Japan world recently I will get round to watching the rest of them shortly. Due to time constraints I can't do a Chikara season 15 premier as promised and it will be moved to next months letter. Finally to end this section the BBC commissioned a follow up to last years incredibly popular documentary on scottland's hottest independent group ICW (insane Championship Wrestling). It aired last month on January 21st and yet again has recieved positive press and I would recommend it to all british wrestling fans go and check it out.

Wrestler Of The Month: Jay Lethal (ROH
There is so many reason why I have picked this month for this award and here is why. Up first he had cut a tremendous heel promo on Alberto El Patron on ROH tv this month setting up mouth watering encounter between him and Alberto at ROH 13th Year Anniversary ppv. The promos got even better this month on ROH tv where he claimed El Patron had disrespected him and to cap the month off had a great outing against ACH and Matt Sydel in a triple threat ROH world television title match. Also considered for this award was kevin owens who's been booked so strong in NXT he slowly becoming the brock Lesnar of NXT and that's not a bad thing the only difference is owens actually turns up to work each week. Also honourable mentions must go to Sasha Banks who had another stand out month performance wise this month with her chase and eventual win for the NXT divas title this month.

Match of the Month: Daniel Bryan Vs Seth Rollins (WWE RAW 02.02.15
This was a real tought choice with Hiroshi Tanahashi taking on Kazuchika Okada match from Axcess tv new japan show this month. Also there was the ROH world television title triple threat match between champion Jay lethal going up against ACH and Matt Sydel, Bray Wyatt vs Dolph Ziggler, Adrain Neville Vs Finn Balor, Hideo Itami v Tyler Breeze, the NXT women's title fatal 4 way between Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch, the NXT title match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, Robert Roode Vs Eric Young in a six sides of steel match and Daniel Bryan vs Seth Rollins all taking place this month but in the end I had to go for the obvious choice of Mr Danileson and Mr Black's match from raw earlier this month, it really was that damn good.

Worst Match of the Month: Daniel Bryan&Roman Regins Vs The Big Show&Kane (WWE RAW 09.02.15
It wasn't the action in the ring that offended me in this match it was the finish. Yet another DQ finish to a feud (i mean the regins v show and bryan v kane feuds) that should have finished a long time ago. Yep one half (whoever that will be) of the WrestleMania main event can't beat two guys who have been around forever and meant nothing to wwe for well over the last two years now.

Worst Wrestler of the Month: Daniel Bryan&Roman Regins (WWE
Another month and yet another wwe guy wins this award and this time it's given to two men. Roman wins this award for the second month in a row and I can't believe I've gone and given by boy d.bryan the other half of the award. I'm guessing your asking why well I'll tell you my dear reader. It's the way both men have been booked,  it looks as if one of these men will headline mania with Brock Lesnar and wwe are building both up as geeks who can't beat two old timers bo offer no upside to w wrestling in 2015. In fact the booking of both had been so bad that both men are going to have no crowd support come the mania main event.

So that's it for month in pro wrestling history, thanks for reading and remember or if you don't know check out my ROH tv show weekly review as well as my monthly old school wrestling review on the JWR Network at www.jwrpodcast.blogspot.com and you can follow me on Twitter at either @RantsWrestle or @billy222me so until next month as bill apter would say see you at the matches.
