Old School Review: WWF IYH 16: Canadian Stampede

This time for the old school review is the WWF in your house 16 Canadian stampede Pay Per View. So let's pick up where we last left off because since WWF survivor series 96 show the WWF as a whole has gone under some cosmetic changes regrading the companies direction creatively and a lot of the characters who debuted last time out haven't even made it onto this event some 8 months from where we left off last time out.
The fall out of WWF survivor series 96 and the first half of 97
The creative direction of the company as a whole radically changed during this period of time in the Feds history, largely due to wcw still kicking the WWF ass across the board. During this period wcw live events grossed triple the amount the WWF was taking, merchandise sales in wcw sky rocketed (well the nWo shirt did), ppv buy rates were also the highest wcw had ever seen at the time and of course nitro at this point had beaten the WWF in the ratings for almost over a full year. WWF it seemed was no longer the trend setter in the wrestling world as wcw had now taken over. WWF in fact was no longer cool and creatively in a hole at this point and whatever it did good or bad the company was still very far behind wcw in the so called Monday night wars. WWF newest characters didn't get over as they had hoped rocky Maivia a promising baby face on the rise back at survivor series after his debut was now getting regularly booed and chants of die rocky die at him even though he was a smiley happy baby face. Flash funk was a flash in the pan and by now was losing almost all his matches on raw and it was a shame because funk as 2 cold scorpio had quiet a reputation among hardcore fans of 96 as a future main eventer in whatever promotion he wrestled for but as funk 2 cold went nowhere it was the wrong gimmick at the wrong time. Thankfully 2 cold left WWF come 1999 and went back to japan and managed to claw back some respect among fans that had lost respect for him due to this awful gimmick. The sultan (rikishi) was also buried to opening match status at this point and it seemed vince had high hopes for him at survivor series. The can-am connection of Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon were back in ECW already along with al snow/Leif Cassidy who was a new rocker along with Marty Jannetty at survivor series. Barry windham stalker gimmick fared even less well but that had failure written all over but don't worry WWF had a much worse gimmick lined up for him. The fake diesel and razor roman were gone from tv altogether (I bet JR was pissed) and last but not least the wildman merc mero had not gotten over as strong as some had hoped and was back in the second or third match spot. So WWF weren't having much like during this period of there history but along with the misses they had more an a far share of hits and trust me I skipped over a lot of there misses during this period(WWF shotgun Saturday night anyone). Shawn Michaels left WWF survivor series 96 without the WWF title but would regain it at the turn of the year at the WWF royal rumble 97. Shawn wouldn't go on for long as champion as he was scheduled to lose to Bret hart at WWF wrestlemania 13 in a rematch from there mania 12 match but then he lost his smile. In his book Shawn said during this time he was nursing injuries among other things (that reckless lifestyle outside the ring he liked to live during this period). He also said he seriously considered jumping to wcw to be with his good pals Kevin Nash, Scott hall and Sean Waltman. While Bret hart believes that Shawn wanted to get out of doing the job to him and returning the honours in the process and the already fragile relationship between the two went from strained to shattered. Backstage during this period both men had a dislike for the other because let's face it both man wanted to be the top dog and there can only be one. Vince knew this and many believe during this period he played both men against one another to get the best out of  both men. Did it work well it would end with Montreal but I'm getting ahead of my self again. Bret hart turned heel at wrestlemania 13 during his match with stone cold steve austin the two pulled off the rarely seen double turn as Bret went in the face and came out the heel while austin went in the heel (but he was being cheered) and came out a face. During this classic wrestlemania 13 match hart who had been complaining and moaning in the build up to mania of that year how he had been screwed over time and time again. Bret alludes to this in his autobiography saying he felt the bitching and moaning was a bit to much but was happy to turn heel filling it was the right time to do so. Bret would suffer a knee injury a few weeks after Shawn's return to WWF. Bret and Shawn came face to face in a famous segment in May of 1997 with the Hitman confined to a wheelchair he was verbally blasting Shawn then Shawn blasted the Hitman with a super kick. But this segment was famous for all the wrong reasons as Bret either went into business for himself or didn't notice his verbal trirade on Shawn had run over and that weeks big superkick ending was missed by the viewers at home at least. Shawn wrestled steve austin to a double DQ at WWF king of the ring 97 but the best story was to come out of the next night on raw as both Bret hart and Shawn Michaels weekly (at this point) agruement irrupted into a real life fight between the two. The fight all started over Bret not saying hello to Shawn that afternoon/early evening and for not speaking to him for the entire month. Words were exchanged and Shawn lost a chunk of his hair and a punch or two was thrown as well. More words were then exchanged between the two in the bathroom and the two had an altercation why jerry the king Lawler sat on a toilet taking a dump. Bret lost his cool and shoved Shawn shouting have you got something to say to me say it, Michaels throw a punch but Bret countered with one of his own and the two had to be pulled apart by Lawler and pat Patterson while bulldog and crush looked on refusing to help the disliked HBK. Things escalated to the point where Bret ripped out a chunk of Shawn's hart while in a struggle. Shawn took the evidence to his boss and slammed the hair down on the table and told vince he demanded to be released from his contract so he could go play with his buddies down in Atlanta (WCW). Vince knowing he could not afford to lose Shawn bulked at this request and sent both men home from raw for unprofessional conduct. The following week the fight was mentioned on raw with vince announcing it was unprofessional conduct and that Shawn was injured again while hart was back on raw because let's face it he wouldn't sit at home claiming to be injured now would he. Going into this show which was held in Canada (brets home country) it would be Bret harts first match since his injury in May as he would team with his hart foundation (the group hooked up shortly after mania 13) cohorts to face a team consisting of stone cold steve austin, Goldust, the legion of doom and ken shamrock. Over the last few months Hitman had his hart foundation team mates would make austin life a misery until HBK returned that May to help austin until the fight and he had quit or was injured. I guess originally HBK and stone cold would have teamed with LOD and shamrock until Shawn quit or was injured in June but whatever the original plan was could you imagine if Shawn was involved the heat on HBK would have been epic. Anyway the Canadian crowd did not disappoint us on this night more on that later. Lastly the WWF had the undertaker beat sid at wrestlemania 13 to capture his second WWF title his regain wasn't no failure it was just the WWF didn't build any good challengers after taker had beaten strong challengers in mankind and steve austin in April and May. As in June the champion wrestled mid carder for life Faarooq and was here paired up against Vader and by this point Vader was just another guy thanks to Shawn Michaels as mentioned on the previous review. So after all of that breif build up to this point in WWF history let's get to the show itself.

WWF In Your House 16 Canadian Stampede PPV, Calgary Alberta Canada the Saddledome Att:12,151 and ppv buy rate: 209,963. Again I was watching the VHS version of this show and it contained the free 4 all once again but it also opened with the classic attitude ad. You know the one where stone cold, taker, foley, sable and the rock walk through the halls of Titan towers with there tongue in cheek dialogue as vince McMahon finishes it with get it. Anyway the show opened with the free 4 all and vince welcomed us to the show and he was joined by JR and the king as the godwinns made there way to the ring. The once happy go lucky pig farmers where now in a deliverance type role playing fearsome pig farmers (they turned heel) and had new creepy music of pig squires accompanied by some creepy violin music. Out next was the new blackjacks (in pro wrestling anything with the new in front of it normally bombs or the dreaded 2000 moniker also had this effect in the 90's) team of Barry windham and Bradshaw. Since the last review (WWF survivor series 96) Bradshaw and windham have both been given a much worse gimmick than they had before. Last time out Barry windham a bona fide legend of wrestling was the completely forgettable stalker while Bradshaw was a hawk. The New BlackJacks Blackjack Windham (Barry Windham) and Blackjack Bradshaw (JBL) Vs The Godwinns Herny and Phineas. Not much of a match this one very forgettable indeed as the ppv had a cowboy theme the farmers were not popular in Calgary at all and the crowd got on there backs almost as soon as the team made there way to the ring. There wasn't too much to talk about with this one, early on Bradshaw nailed Phineas with a big boot which made the pig pucker snap. Phineas mauled kicked everyone but then the blackjacks calmed him down with a pair of big boots. Bradshaw gives Phineas a powerslam and follows it up with a lariat but he misses. Phineas then tags Herny who whips windham into his partner and gives Bradshaw a slop drop for a two count. Windham is sent to the ring apron as the godwinns double team Bradshaw who makes a short comeback and he dumps himself and Herny out over the top rope. Back in the ring windham goes for back drop but gets his eyes racked by Phineas and Phineas gets 1,2 and 3 over windham. Your winners the godwinns. Rubbish match, awful couldn't have cared less as it meant nothing to the WWF longterm. The only big highlight of this match is a sign that reads wcw sucks. Then that's it a 8 minute free 4 all, it's then right into a video package profiling the feud between the hart foundation and stone cold. Vince welcomes us proper this time along with JR and the king and the three get right into taking about tonight's card and the matches which will take place tonight. Then hunter Hearst Helmsley music hits and he and chyna make there way out to the ring for tonight's opening contest. singles match Hunter Hearst Helsley/with Chyna Vs Mankind. Since we have seen mankind well he's gone under quiet a transformation no longer the dark reject who come across as crazy and deranged because now he was a good guy thanks to a sit down interview with Jim ross on raw where mick talked about how he had hitch hiked to MSG and how he dived off the top of house (WWF showed micks teenage home made movie the loved one, want to know more about this then I suggest you go out of your way to read mick foleys blood sweat and tube socks book). Fans no longer feared mick now they probably realized he was just like them and come on how can you not like mick he's much a loveable guy. Hunter meanwhile is no longer IC champion and has now found a new bodyguard this time in the form of chyna, more on her later. The Match started out with Jr bringing up last months king of the ring final which saw hunter beat mick for that years crown after a boat load of interference from chyna. The two rushed one another before the bell and battled back and fourth and the brawl went to the outside. The king said the Canadians were crazy for cheering an ugly human being like mankind and boo Greenwich royalty hunter while JR pointed out how could you not like this guy king after everything he's been through in his life obviously ross was foleys biggest supporter in the office at the time. Back in the ring hunter gave mick a running bulldog and worked over micks knee in the corner. Hunter went for a figure four but foley pushed him off and gave hunter a double arm DDT. The two then went up and over to the outside, mankind looks like a crazed man says jr. Mankind goes up to the ring apron and flies off with a elbow drop right into hunters chest, it looks like mankind has been watching his cactus jack matches. Mankind then beats hunter down in front of the hart family and as per usual camera hogger Bruce is all in the shot. Back in the ring mankind gives hunter a back drop and goes for the maniable claw which he applies after hunter tries but fails to fight it off. Again chyna is there to save hunter by decking mankind right in front of the official with a big right hand which mick sells like a gun had just gone off in his face. The referee warns chyna, hunter clotheslines mick to the outside but as hunter follows him out mick battles back he then steps back and runs at hunter but hunter Asteps out of the way and mick runs into chyna who gives mick a hip toss into the ringside steel steps (oh boy that looked nasty). Hunter throws foley back into the ring and gets a near fall on mankind, hunter follows it up with a high knee and a spine buster again for another two count. Hunter pummels mankind in the corner with left and rights while jerry laughs mankinds hurt and can't get up. Hunter applies the figure four as jr mentions foley being nicknamed the king of hardcore. Hunter holds mick in the hold for a while but then mick reaches the ropes but hunter refuses to release the hold. Referee timmy Whyte does nothing as mankind punches his way free from the figure four. Mick then whips hunter into the corner and rushes at hunter but hunter side steps mick who hits the buckle hard and hunter goes for the pedigree but mankind counters it and drives hunter into the mat and then drops a knee into helmsleys Crown Jewels quips the king. Mankind then gives hunter a running knee in the corner and covers hunter for another two count. Hunter counters another double arm DDT and gives mick a piledriver for another near fall. Hunter goes over and distracts the referee while chyna gets in the ring and takes micks head off with a clothesline. Hunter covers mick and again it's only a two count. Hunter sends mick to the outside and hunter whips mick hard into the guardrail and mick goes up and over into the 2nd row as the bell rings. The crowd who had up until this point had really been enjoying this booed at the double DQ but mankind and hunter were not done with one another as the two brawled in the crowd. Chyna gets involved as well but the officials pulled her off of mick then the brawl goes into the back and this wouldn't be the last we'd see of these three this evening. No Contest Double DQ. We go to the back and the hart foundation are with Dox Hendrix and then from out of nowhere comes stone cold who is being held back by pat Patterson. Up next is the Michinoku guest match as The Great Sasuke (the owner and founder of Michinoku pro wrestling) vs Taka Michinoku (Taka took the name Michinoku as a tribute to Sasuke who used to wrestle under the name masa Michinoku before Sasuke found his mask). Sasuke and Michinoku circle one another then Sasuke gives Taka a couple of stiff kicks to start out the match. Suddenly mankind and hunter show up in the crowd brawling again along with chyna and some officials who are having some problems separting the two. Mankind, hunter and chyna then begin to brawl to the back. Back to the action as Sasuke whips Taka into the ropes and hits Taka with a spinning heel kick and then a karate like RVD kick. Snapmere by Sasuke and a kick to takas head and chest as a sign is held up reading this is work rate. The crowd largely probably didn't know who either man was hence the timid reactions at the start but by now the noise inside the Saddledome has gone up. Another spin kick by Sasuke to Taka as we then get the most blantant racist comment of the night as the king says I bet Taka can't even see those kicks coming (come on). Back to the action and Sasuke is kicking Taka in the ribs when Taka catches one of the kicks and gives Sasuke a dragon screw leg whip. Taka slams Sasuke down and goes up top and dives off but Sasuke moves and up gets Sasuke who goes up top himself and flies off with a karate kick to Taka. Only a two count for Sasuke who applies a chinlock to Taka. Sasuke sends Taka into the corner and does a springboard elbow smash and then kicks Taka in the corner. Sasuke sends Taka to the outside and he tries to dive on top of Taka but Taka moves and Sasuke hits the mat below. Taka rolls into the ring and leaps up onto the top rope rope and dives out onto Sasuke. Back in the ring Sasuke cuts Taka off with a karate kick and whips Taka into the corner again and does a second handspring elbow smash. Sasuke sends Taka to the outside again Sasuke then goes out onto the apron and leaps onto the top rope and moonsualts out onto Taka. Sasuke rolls Taka into the ring as Sasuke follows but Taka cuts him off with a dropkick. Taka then scoops up Sasuke and drives him into the mat head first with a Michinoku driver. Taka covers Sasuke for a two count only. Taka then gives Sasuke a snap suplex and goes up top and flies off but Sasuke is waiting and he gives Taka a drop kick in mid air. Sasuke covers Taka for another two count. Sasuke then drills Taka with another kick and then gives Taka a suplex into a bridge (perfect plex) for the 1,2 and 3. Winner The Great Sasuke. A very good match indeed and I can't do it justice in this review so id recommend you go and check this one out yourselves. It's right into the parking lot as hunter, mankind and chyna are shown brawling still. The two bounce one another off some parked cars then climb on top of some wooden pallets. Hunter teases the piledriver but mick counters it with a back drop and hunter lands on his back making the wood crack while jr screams BYE GAWD someone could get hurt out there. Chyna then shows up and decks mick with a big right hand as the officials now successful break up brawl between the three. Todd pettengill is in the back with Vader and Paul bearer, Todd reminds us that Vader had stepped in at the last minute to replace Ahmed Johnson (oh thank god). We also get some footage of taker injuring Johnson last month and a reminder of the crappy feud between taker and the nation members. Paul doesn't talk up Vader no he's hinting at the impending arrival of undertakers brother (who's name hasn't been mentioned on air yet) and like on raw last week bearer is insisting that undertaker is a murder and adds you will pay tonight undertaker. WWF World Championship Title Match The Undertaker (Champion) Vs Vader/With Paul Bearer. The undertaker is clearly the most over guy so far this evening as he gets a monsterous pop from the Canadian crowd. Taker attacks Vader as soon as the bell rings in fact taker is all over Vader hammering him with left and rights. Taker hits old school and then gives Vader a knee to the gut and massive right hand which sends Vader to the mat. Taker Irish whips Vader into the ropes and goes for a shoulder block but Vader hits taker with a clothesline but it only rocks taker. Vader goes for another clotheline but taker ducks and hits the ropes and flies back off the ropes into Vader with a flying clothesline. Taker pummels Vader then gives him not one but two big boots and Vader falls to the outside. Taker follows Vader out and goes to whip Vader into the guardrail but Vader counters and sends taker shoulder first into the ring steps. Vader rolls taker into ring but taker is up before Vader is back in the ring and gives Vader another few stiff left and rights to send the big man rocking he then whips Vader into the corner. Taker then gives Vader an elbow smash and follows that up with a flying clothesline. So far this match has been incredibly one sided and taker seems to be no selling for Vader. Taker goes over to Paul bearer who is now on the ring apron he grabs bearer by the collar but then Vader recovers and gives taker a splash from behind. Vader slams taker who is up almost immediately then Vader backs taker into the corner and unloads with some left and rights of his own to taker. Vader then acsends to the middle rope and dives off onto taker with a clothesline. Taker is up far to early again but is given a suplex and a splash by the Rocky Mountain man who covers taker for a 1 count (WTF). Vader slaps on a nerv hold as both men need a rest now, taker battles back by striking Vader over and over again in the belly with left and rights as vaders belly jiggles back and fourth. Taker whips Vader into the ropes but Vader shoulder blocks taker and gives him a belly to belly for a two count. Vader picks up taker who again recovers far to easily and taker teases the chokeslam but Vader kicks taker right in the nuts right in front of the referee as jr screams that was a blantant DQ (good covering by jr). Vader pins taker only a two and again before Vader is up taker is up no longer selling the effects of the low blow. Taker scoops up Vader into a tombstone but Vader counters it and now has taker in the tombstone position but it's reversed again but taker and Vader botch it by falling to the mat. Taker doesn't look happy and scoops up Vader into a tombstone for a two count. Bearer is back up on the apron distracting the referee and taker goes to grab him again but again he's cut off by Vader who attacks taker from behind. Vader slams taker into position by the ropes for the Vader bomb and goes up to the second rope but again super taker recovers and low blows Vader right in front of the referee and again jr is asking why no DQ (indeed). Taker grabs Vader by the throat as Vader is still on the second rope and drives Vader down onto the mat with a chokeslam for another very near fall. Taker drills Vader with another chokeslam for another two count then drills Vader with the tombstone for the 1,2 and 3. Winner and still WWF Champion The Undertaker. Ok match but what was taker up to did he go out of his way to make Vader look bad on purpose. The evidence is currently there, undertaker seemed to recover far to easily and no sold some of vaders move or maybe he was just having a bad night but whatever it was something fishy was going on during this match. A video review of stone colds feud with the harts
Is shown but no mention of HBK who had quit or was injured by this point. Dox Hendrix is with stone cold, LOD, Goldust and ken shamrock. The faces say who they dislike and why the crowd won't effect them tonight then hawk ends the promo with what a rush. Stu and Helen hart are shown sitting at ringside and the crowd give the two a standing ovation as vince asks jerry not to make anymore unsettling jokes aimed at stu and helen to which jerry doesn't listen and continues on with his old people jokes (some of which were very funny, check out WWF raw in June of 93 when jerry gives us some classic zingers about stu and helen) and the rest of the hart family is shown at ringside as well. Main event Ten Man Tag The Hart Foundation Bret Hitman Hart, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Jim The Anvil Niedheart and Brian Pillman Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, Legion Of Doom Hawk&Animal, Ken Shamrock and Goldust/with Marlena. The Canadians give the harts and Pillman a standing ovation and neally blow the roof off of the saddledome while they boo the faces expect LOD (there is that LOD pop insiders like to talk about). As for austin he is public enemy number 1 here and is booed even before he comes out through the curtain. Both teams come face to face as the crowd cheers are at a fever pitch while jr mentions the wrestling with shadows camera team following Bret around at ringside (not so important at the time but come November and again in 1999 that comment becomes very fact worthy indeed). Bret and austin start out the match as both men exchange left and rights. Bret rocks austin which upsets the rattlesnake who flips off the Canadian crowd who give austin a tremendous amount of heat for that. Jr mentions that the atmosphere is off the page and I would have to agree with him the Canadian crowd made this match so much more special in my opinion. Bret goes to whip austin into the corner but austin counters it and Bret goes chest first into the turnbuckle hard and comes out into an awaiting austin who slaps on a million dollar dream. Bret counters with his survivor series 96/wrestlemania 8 spot and pins austin who has to release the hold. Bret tags in the anvil but austin is all over the anvil and gives him a lou Thesz press. Austin tags in shamrock as the crowd chant arsehole at austin. Pillman is tagged by anvil and shamrock takes Pillman down and then gives him a belly to belly suplex and teases the ankle lock but anvil pull shamrock off of Pillman. Jr brings up the CBS documentary on ken shamrock as Pillman gives shamrock a back breaker as the king laughs about how shamrock is tapping out to Pillman. Owen and Goldust are in now while the crowd chants Owens name and Owen plays up to it taking his eyes off Goldust who rolls up Owen for a close two count. Goldy tags in hawk who gives Owen a gut wrench suplex and a leg drop. Owen crawls to the wrong corner and is given a big splash by hawk in the corner. Owen then crawls to the right corner as fast as he can and tags in Davey boy who also gets a monsterous pop and he plays up to it by flexing for the crowd. Hawk is having none of this and turns Davey around and hits him but Davey battles back and gives hawk a standing vertical suplex (quiet ironically hawk sells the suplex). Davey scoops up hawk and gives him a running powerslam and Davey rather strangely tags in Bret while hawk now recovered tags animal. Bret is given a massive powerslam by animal but then Bret gives animal a Russian leg sweep. Austin then attacks Bret and all the men are in there now brawling with one another and the crowd explodes. Owen is tagged in and he gives animal a standing wheel kick and does a HBK nip up and dance as the crowd cheers (it was almost if Owen was mocking HBK) Animal battles back with a tilt a whirl slam and then gives Owen a powerbomb and animal picks up Owen into the devistation device position as hawk goes up and they hit there special on Owen. Owen crawls and is helped to the outside by Bret as austin is tagged in and he goes to the outside and beats Owen up in front of his family. Bruce (that camera hogging douch) grabs austin (or throws a drink on him) but austin seems to think it is stu and grabs stu who looks to be enjoying himself. The rest of the brothers attack austin as does the rest of the hart foundation as officials break up the impending mob brawl on austin. The crowd chant austin sucks as medical staff help Owen to the back. The hart foundation then swarm austin and put the boots to the Texas rattlesnake. Bret wraps on figure four to austin who has his legs tied up in the ring post and Bret refuses to break the hold in the end bulldog pulls him off and austin is now being taken to the back by the EMT. Anvil and the animal slow the pace down with a good old fashion test of strength spot. The crowd pops when Bret and anvil turn back the hands of time and reunite to double team animal. Shamrock is in now and gives Bret a belly to belly suplex but Bret gives shamrock an atomic drop moments later. Bret drops a headbutt into shamrocks Abdormal area and tries a sharpshooter but shamrock counters it. The action breaks down again and all eight brawl and both officials have to break it up now. Davey is in who is strangely low blowed by shamrock then ken gets up and seems to taunt the crowd and have a little fun playing heel. Goldust is in who gives bulldog a DDT and then a curtain call for a near two count because anvil pulled Goldust off of Davey at two. Davey battles back with a suplex and then he gives Goldust a top rope super plex but austin is back and he's swatting away officials and EMT as he comes back into the ring. Bret tags himself in and so does austin and the two exchange left and rights as the crowd cheers get louder and louder with each and every punch. Bret gives austin a DDT and and back breaker and covers austin for a two count. Animal is tagged in and Bret gives animal a clothesline but animal follows it up with a powerslam to Bret and animal tags austin back in. Bret fires up and takes down austin and teases the sharpshooter but austin rolls through and now has the hold on Bret. Owen then runs out to ringside to a massive pop and pulls austin off of his brother. Again it all breaks out into a massive brawl between all ten men as Owen tags Bret and rolls up austin to get the 1,2 and 3. Your winners the hart foundation Bret Hitman Hart, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, Jim The Anvil Niedheart and Brian Pillman. After the bell rings the fight is still on between all ten men but then the hart brothers lead by Bruce (of course) help the foundation beat down austin, shamrock, Goldust and the road warriors. The officials and EMT end up having to pull away team austin as the harts have the numbers game over team austin. Austin has to be dragged to the back kicking and screaming. Meanwhile the harts celebrate in the ring but then austin returns this time with a chair and attacks Bret some more but he is beaten up by th entire hart family (even Diana gets in a few kicks for safe measure). Then officials are successful in getting austin to the back as brets music hits. To end the show the entire family including the wives  and kids enter the ring and celebrate even Martha hart is on camera for a few seconds as well as a very young looking nattie Niedheart, Tyson Kidd and Harry smith are also shown in the ring as the show fades to black.
Round up and ratings
Overall I would say go check this show out if you haven't seen it, it's well worth it but a little short running In at just over two hours running time. The match of the night was the main event but I would recommend you go out of your way to see Taka Michinoku vs the great Sasuke and wrestler of the night has to go to stone cold. You could see the pure joy in his eyes that he got to play super heel here tonight. The overall show gets solid 7.5 out of 10 as the free 4 all match and takers strange treatment of Vader dragged it down in the way of ratings as for others the definitive history of WWF have given it a 100 out 100 and they know there stuff better than I ever will. Onto next time in the 4th instalment of JWR old school wrestling review (sorry jay for stealing the gimmick BRAH) it's time to look that a show that happened a mere week after this one as it's time to go to Atlanta for WCW Bash at the Beah 97. In that review there will be a short and breif feature on the nWo and I take a look at the wcw product as whole and try to answer that question what made wcw a better product in 1997 and what they were doing different to WWF at the time. So until next time thanks for reading and as bill apter would say see you at the matches.
